Art Exhibit of the Month - Birds of Massachusetts and Other New England States

Artist of the Month for February 2019
Birds of Massachusetts and Other New England States

Louis Agassiz Fuertes (1894-1927) was one of America's foremost painter of birds. In the 1920s, Fuertes was commissioned by Edward Howe Forbush (1858-1929), the first Massachusetts State Ornithologist and one of the founders of the Massachusetts Audubon Society, to create illustrations for Forbush's book, Birds of Massachusetts and Other New England States. These paintings by Fuertes remain some of the most accomplished work on regional avifauna ever produced. This exhibit is on loan from the Massachusetts Archives & Commonwealth Museum and will be available for viewing during the month of February.

LOCATION: Betty Ann Low Meeting Room

During the month, the exhibit may be viewed anytime the Betty Ann Low Meeting Room is not in use.
