Storrs Library Closed To Limit Potential Spread Of COVID-19

Storrs Library Closed to limit potential spread of COVID-19

In response to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and while using an abundance of caution and taking our cue from CDC and other health professionals, the Town of Longmeadow and the Richard Salter Storrs Board of Trustees have decided to temporarily suspend library services. Storrs Library is closed to the public beginning Thursday, March 12, 2020. Pending no further health concerns, Storrs Library hopes to open Tuesday, May 5, 2020, for regular Library services and to resume programming on Monday, May 11, 2020.

What’s going on with my books?

I have materials checked out. What are my options for returning them?

We are asking that you hold onto your materials until we reopen.

No fines will be assessed during the library closure. We are committed to ensuring that patrons don’t feel obligated to return their materials if they are ill, concerned, or do not otherwise need to be out and about.

I received an alert that my materials arrived. Will they be sent back? Can I pick them up?

Any items that you requested and have received a notification for pick up during our closing will remain at Storrs Library until May 5 (or until we open again).

Please keep in mind that developments about library closures and services are changing rapidly. Please check back for updates.

I can’t seem to place any holds to pick up in Longmeadow from my online account. Can I place holds on materials or borrow materials from neighboring libraries?

While Storrs Library remains closed, items that you request from CWMARS cannot be set for pick-up at Storrs Library. If you try to set the location as Storrs, the request will not process. Please select an alternate pick-up location for the items to be picked up by the library cardholder when you place your request. We recommend checking directly with neighboring libraries about their hours and any anticipated closures before naming them as your new pick-up library location.
