Richard Salter Storrs Library- Small Study Room – Guidelines

Statement of Purpose

The primary purpose of the study room is to provide space for small groups to meet and work.

The room accommodates up to four people.

Younger patrons may use the room if accompanied by an adult who will remain in the room while it is in use.

Use of the study room by a group or individual does not in any way constitute an endorsement of the group’s or individual’s’ policies by the Library or the Town. When questions arise concerning the use of this room, the Library Director will be consulted. If uncertainty persists, the Director will consult with the Library Board. The Library Board and the Library Director reserves the right to restrict use of the meeting room.

Availability and Reservations

The study room is available for use during regular library hours. Reservations may be made by patrons aged 18 or older.

Without reservations the study room will be available on a first come, first served basis. User will check in at the reference/information desk for availability and sign-up. Users will check out at the desk when vacating the study room. Library sponsored meetings and events have priority.

An individual or group may reserve the room for up to 2 hours each day. If no one is waiting, the room may be used for an additional hour.

The room may be reserved for up to 6 hours per week by the same person/group.

The room may be reserved up to a month in advance.

On the day of the reservation, users will check in at the reference/information desk to confirm a reservation. Users will check out at the desk when vacating the study room.

Reservations must be claimed within ten minutes of the beginning reservation time. After ten minutes, the reservation is no longer valid and other patrons may use the study room.

The room is to be vacated  15 minutes prior to closing.

General Rules and Limitations

Users of the study room must comply with library policies and procedures.

Library staff will have free access to the meeting room at all times.

All meetings must be scheduled and held during library open hours.

The room must be vacated 15 minutes before the library closing time.

No materials may be affixed to wall surfaces, trim or doors.

Supplies are not provided.

No food allowed.

Groups or individual who discriminate in their membership, programs, or philosophy on the basis of race, color, creed, sex or any other qualifier will be denied use of the facility.

Anyone violating these rules may be asked to leave and/or denied future use of the facility. This includes failure to allow staff to follow normal closing procedures, excessive noise, or failure to clean up.

The Library Board reserves the right to modify this policy at any time in response to changing conditions.
